About Exam

HPCET 2017 (Himachal Pradesh Combined Entrance Test) Engineering Exam is conducted by Himachal Pradesh Centre for Technical Education. HPCET 2017 is conducted for candidates seeking admission to engineering programmes (B. Tech and M. Tech) offered by Himachal University. HPCET 2017 engineering is a state level exam and will be held on May 14, 2017 and May 15, 2017. Candidates can fill the HPCET 2017 application form from March 02, 2017 to May 01, 2017. A candidate must check whether they fulfil the HPCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria before applying for the exam. The allocation of college depends on the HPCET 2017 Merit List. The candidates will be called for HPCET 2017 counselling once the exam is over. The HPCET 2017 admission process is based on the counselling process.


B.Tech HPCET 2017

The candidate has to clear class 12th examination withatleast 45% marks with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects. The optionalsubjects can be Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocationalsubject. The candidate from reserved category has 5% relaxation in percentage.

M.Tech HPCET 2017

The candidate must have cleared Bachelor’s of Technologyfrom a recognized board or university. The minimum required percentage is 50%for General category candidates. The minimum percentage for reserved categorycandidates is 45%.

Exam Process

Step 1 Registration:

Complete the HPCET 2017 registration process. The candidatemust provide the name, address, phone number, email id and other details.

Once the registration is done the unique application number,username and password will be generated. It is also mailed to the candidate.

Step 2 Filling up ofthe Application Form:

The candidate must fill the application form with theobtained user name and password. The application number is also asked.

The candidate after login must provide the details as askedin the form. The detail includes detail of the marks, parent’s name, schoolinginformation, etc.

Step 3 Uploading ofdocuments:

Once the details are submitted as asked the candidate can goto step 3 which is uploading the scanned copy of photograph and signature.

Step 4 Payment ofApplication Fee

After the upload is done successfully as per the guidelinesthe candidate has to submit the HPCET 2017 application form fee. There are twoways to do it. Mode one is offline using e-challan of PNB bank and mode two isonline using a payment gateway.

The fee once paid the form is generated for the last viewbefore final submission.

Step 5 Submission ofApplication Form

Check the information in the form displayed. If all theinformation is correct, click on “Submit” button and take a printout of theHPCET 2017 application form.

Take a printout of the application form and send it to theuniversity office.

HPCET Engineering 2017 Application Process for NRI/Foreigncandidates

The candidates of foreign origin have a different applicationprocess. The candidate needs to submit an application in writing and it mustreach the head office before July 8, 2017.

The candidates do not have to appear for HPCET 2017engineering entrance test. The candidates of foreign origin just need to fulfilthe basic eligibility criteria. The candidate’s application will be acceptedonly if the candidate has cleared the HPCET 2017 eligibility criteria. Thecandidate must send all the documents as asked in the HPCET 2017-18 brochures.

HPCET 2017 Admit Card

The HPCET 2017 Admit Card is important for the candidate toappear in the HPCET 2017 engineering entrance exam. The admit card can bedownloaded from the official website after the HPCET 2017 application form isfilled by all the candidates.

The candidate must carry the photo id proof and itsphotocopy along with the admit card to HPCET 2017 exam centre.


HPCET 2017 engineering exam for M. Tech candidates involves3 sections. The details of sections are given as follows:

Part A: Aptitude section

Part B: Subject related section

Part C: Mathematics section


Thecandidates appearing for B.Tech HPCET 2017 entrance test will contain questionsfrom the class 11th and 12th syllabus. The exam has 3 sections. The questionswill come from Physics, Chemistry and mathematics. The total duration of examis 3 hours and total marks are 300.

A candidate will be rewarded 2 marks for every correctanswer and 0.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
