About Exam

NIFT entrance exam is a national level entrance test conducted by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). The entrance exam is conducted for admissions to Bachelor of Design and Bachelor of Fashion Technology programmes offered across 16 NIFT campuses across India. There are a total of 2370 seats including 2010 seats for B. Design program.

Eligibility

For B. Design programme –

Candidates must have passed 10+2 qualifying examination from any recognised national or state board of education

Candidates passed qualifying examination from public school/ universities/ equivalent board in India or abroad must be recognized under Association of Indian Universities

For Bachelor of Fashion Technology –

Candidates should pass 10+2 qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects from any recognised national or state board of education

Candidates should pass qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from public school/ universities/ equivalent board in India or abroad must be recognized under Association of Indian Universities

Candidates applying for undergraduate programmes must not be more than 23 years of age as on October 1, 2017. Candidates belonging to reserved categories including SC/ST as well as physically handicapped candidates are provided age relaxation of up to five years.

Exam Process

Candidates filling application after last date had to pay late application fee of INR 5000 along with the application fee INR 1500. Candidates can check here how to apply for NIFT 2017 as mentioned below –

Candidates need to click on ‘Fresh Candidate to create Log In’ to register for NIFT 2017

Login with registered Id and date of birth to fill in the application form of NIFT 2017

Candidates can now fill up the application form of NIFT 2017 as well as upload scanned copy of photograph and signature as per specifications mentioned

The application fee of NIFT 2017 can be remitted in online mode via debit card/ credit card or offline mode using demand draft

Candidates can submit application in online mode if remitting fee via debit card/ credit card. In case, candidates remit application fee using demand draft then, candidates need to send application form along with demand draft on the official address: Project Manager – CMS, All India Management Association Management House, 14, Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi – 110003

Type of Questions - Multiple Choice Questions

Total Marks - 100 marks

Exam Type - Written Test 

Exam Mode - Offline Mode

Timing - 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (180 minutes)

Medium – English

Number of Questions – 150

Type of Questions - Objective Type Questions

Total Marks - 150 marks

NIFT 2017 CAT and Situation Test for B. Design programme -

Creative Ability Test

NIFT conducts Creative Ability Test of 100 marks for admissions to B. Design programme to judge

Intuitive Ability

Power of observation in Concept Development

Design Ability

Creative and innovative use of colour and illustration skills among the candidates.

Situation Test

 NIFT will be conducting Situation Test for 100 marks. Candidates shortlisted from GAT and CAT are called for situation test. It is a practical skill test where candidates are evaluated for material handling and innovative ability. Candidates are provided materials for test at test venue only. The parameters for evaluation are as specified below -

Overall presentation

Candidates also need to write down the concept of their Model/Design. The assessment of Situation Test will be done on the spot by the jury.
